Prof. Prasad Reddy, P.V.G.D, was born in Rajahmundry, East Godavari district to Late P.Kamala Reddy and Late P.Bavamma.  He did his schooling from NavaBharathi Gurukulam, Rajahmundry. He obtained his B.Tech, in Mechanical Engineering, from Andhra University in the year   1985 and M.Tech, in Computer Science & Technology, in   1987, and   Ph.D, in Computer Engineering in the year 1993. Soon after completion of M.Tech, his career started as a Software Engineer with an MNC promoted under Prof Raj Reddy of CMU, USA,  but out of passion towards research he moved to Andhra University in the year 1987.

Prof. Prasad Reddy, is currently working as  Rector (Pro-Vice Chancellor) of Andhra University.  He had earlier served Andhra University as a Registrar for a period of three years from 2008 July -2011 July. He also served as Principal (Full Additional Charge) of IASE, Andhra University. Since 2009 he is on board of VIGNAN University (Deemed), Guntur as its Member ,Executive Council.

Prof Prasad Reddy has 24 years of Teaching & Research  experience which includes more than 10 years of Administrative experience with Andhra University at various senior capacities.  As a Professor of Computer Science, his  specialization includes Enterprise wide Computing, ERP,XML based object models and scalable web applications.

Prof. Prasad Reddy’s Research areas are Soft Computing,   Software Architectures, Knowledge Discovery from Databases, Image Processing, Number theory & Cryptosystems.  He has so far successfully guided 14 Ph.D’s, 18  M.Phil’s  and 259 M.Tech Projects in the field of Computer Engineering ,  and has to his credit, more than  118 Research papers  which includes 52 publications in the referred international Journals of repute, 3 Patents filed  and he has presented 19 publications  in  International Conferences across the world.

Prof Prasad Reddy had earlier served the University as a Director, Information Management Center, for a period of more than 7 Years  and coordinated the automation process of the entire University Administrative and Examination works such as  Payroll, Pensions, Budget & Financial Accounting,  UG & PG Examinations.

Prof Reddy is known as a motivational speaker, accepted & appreciated by student community across the state of Andhra Pradesh. He has been awarded  the BEST Teacher Award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the year 2011.

Prof. Prasad Reddy is well versed with all contemporary software Tools such as  Java EE ,  .NET ,   ERP tools such as SAP  and  he served as a  consultant to various IT organizations on Business & ERP applications.

Prof. Prasad Reddy is a Fellow, Institution of Engineers, INDIA, Member, International Association of Engineers, Member, Indian Science Congress, Hon.Member Rotary Visakhapatnam & Vizianagaram.
